Meet Terri. She spent her teens and 20s obsessed with the scale and yo yo'd as she jumped from faddy diet to faddy diet. She wasn't happy in her own skin and majorly lacked confidence. Exercise to her back then was a form of torture to help lose weight or something only done by athletes. She could tell you the calorie content of most foods and always refused cake!
She didn't really know what she wanted from life but settled down and had two children.
It was having children that finally started to shift the way she viewed her body, particularly as her daughter faced a childhood disease. It was time for big changes and healing her relationship with food and exercise was one of them. She took up running in her 30s, initially to raise money for charity but she was soon hooked!
Meet Raymond. A child of the 70s and perhaps a little bit of a handful at times. The rave scene in the 90s hit and he spent many a night in a field doing what ravers do. He'd never been one for exercise, swapping PE for sneaky cigarettes whilst at school. As he neared his 40s, he decided to make changes to his life. A parkrun event took place near his house and one Saturday he decided to join and see what it was all about. He found community and friendship and somehow entered marathons and ultras along the way.
It was through running that they found each other. As the miles stacked up, their friendship grew. Until one day, when Raymond looked at Terri and said, "You're alright."
Years of friendship and many miles, adventures and challenges had grown into a love story. With Terri and Raymond tying the knot!
